Music Ministry
Musical arts at St. James is an important part of worship. There are many opportunities for those interested in offering praise to God through music. If you are interested in learning more about any music program, please call the church office 919-876-5796 to contact the music

The Sanctuary Choir leads music worship at the 11:15 service. They lead the congregation in singing hymns, sing traditional anthems for worship services and provides music for special seasonal services.
The Common Thread Band leads worship each week at 9:30, Common Thread worship, in Carson Hall using contemporary Christian music. The band is composed of vocalists and instrumentalists on drums, keyboards, guitars (electric, acoustic, bass), and other instruments as the music calls for them. In addition to leading worship each week, the band shares its music in other worship and fellowship settings during the year.
Joyful Noise performs primarily contemporary songs and contemporary adaptations of Christian classics for general or seasonal programs. The group was formed in 1995, and shares music regularly in worship services and special programs at St. James, and also travels to other churches, nursing homes, and to special events in Raleigh and elsewhere in the state
A Handbell Ensemble consisting of youth and adults, performs during seasonal events. The ability to read music is required.
Other Music opportunities
Ukulele – Learn to play in a group setting. Children learn during Kid’s Jam. Youth and adults meet once a week in the evening for instruction.
