Welcome to St. James

Visitors to St. James...

... will find that we are a welcoming congregation - from our greeters and ushers to the person sitting next to you in worship.

... will learn that we are a diverse community, including our worship styles, our learning styles, our cultural backgrounds, and our music preferences.

... are invited to coffee hour in the church lobby from 9:30 to 11:00 each Sunday morning. Coffee hour is a wonderful opportunity to meet others between services.

... are invited to use the nursery if your child is 3-years-old or younger. We have nurseries throughout Sunday morning for those attending worship and Sunday School. Children are registered in the nursery by their accompanying adult, and are then released only to that adult. Greeters and ushers will be happy to show you to the appropriate nursery for your child.

... are invited to visit in with Sunday School classes during the 9:45 and 11:00 hours. All of our classes enjoy having visitors and will make you feel welcome.

... will find that St. James welcomes all, regardless of cultural background or age. While there is a wide variety in the clothing choices made by worshippers, the majority of those worshipping on Sunday morning are dressed in business casual style.

... are invited to participate in the Sacrament of Holy Communion on the first Sunday of each month in traditional worship, and on special Sundays in Common Thread. Church membership is not required in order to participate, because United Methodists believe that the Table is God's Table. We ask all those who come forward to receive communion to come with expectant hearts, asking God to draw them closer to God through the sacrament. St. James uses grape juice in communion rather than wine.

... will see that at St. James, every person makes a difference. We are a church in which every person is needed, and every person is invited to participate in ministry in the way God has called them to serve. Ours is not a staff-driven, nor clergy-driven church, but a church in which we all serve.

For ministry information, worship information and time/date/place details, you are invited to look at the many pages of our website, and for information during church office hours (M-Th, 8:00AM - 2:00PM), you are invited to call (919-876-5796).
